Etta "Loraine" Middlebrooks
Etta “Loraine” Middlebrooks, 88 years young, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018.

Loraine was born May 17, 1930, in Bratt, Florida, to parents Robert Henry “Bob” and Elsie Godwin.

Loraine and her husband, A.E. Middlebrooks, owned and operated Middlebrooks Funeral Home in Apalachicola, Florida, for twenty-five years. She was a member of Marcus Pointe Baptist Church in Pensacola. She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother. Many people loved her because of her quick wit and sharp mind, and she was always the life of the party wherever she went. She was a great cook and could whip up a meal at the drop of a hat.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, A.E. “Andy” Middlebrooks.

Loraine is survived by her daughter, Linda Abel Greer, of Pensacola, Florida; son, Craig A. (Carol) Abel, of Milton, Florida; daughter, Michelle Abel (Neal) Wells, of Mary Ester, Florida; and her son, Scott (Chanda) Abel, of Apalachicola, Florida; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 3, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel (6405 Hwy. 90 West, Milton, Florida 32570). Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.

Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time, Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at Magnolia Cemetery in Apalachicola, with Lewis Funeral Home of Milton directing.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank all the doctors and nurses at West Florida Hospital that helped Mom during her time in the hospital. And, a very special thank you to the staff of Covenant Care Inpatient Center at West Florida Hospital (Hospice) for the love, compassion and care given to our mother.
