Arthur "Douglas" Lewis  Arnold
Arthur Douglas Lewis Arnold, age 84, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018.

Douglas was born March 15, 1935, to Roy M Arnold and Iola B Russell in Halifax County, Virginia. Douglas served his country in the Air Force from 1935 to 1974, and in the Civil Service from 1976 to 1996. Douglas married the love of his life, Doris Mae Chilton, on June 7, 1952. They have four sons, Mike, Victor, Richard and Gary.

Douglas was Air Force Tech Sergeant and worked supporting flight operations as Aircraft Load Master. Douglas traveled the world with his family in tow to Germany, New Jersey, Arkansas, North Carolina, Midway Island, Japan, Washington State and Alaska. He also served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. Douglas was stationed at Eglin AFB first in 1968 and got sand in his shoes and came back to retire here in 1974. Douglas enjoyed playing the guitar and singing country & western songs that he loved. He also played in various bands at various bases where he was stationed.

Douglas was predeceased by his mother; father; three sisters, Dorothy, Lillian, and Vera; two brothers, Roy “RC” and Lewis; his grandson, Christopher; and great-granddaughter, Ava.

Douglas leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years, Doris; his sister, Barbara Ann; four sons, Michael of Olympia, Washington, Victor (Chris) of Hillard Ohio, Richard and Gary (Brenda) of Fort Walton Beach; three grandchildren, Lee (Jessie) of Worthington, Ohio, Beth Ann of Hillard, Ohio, and Jarrett (Ashton) of Atlanta, Georgia; his step grandchild; Julia Alfonso; and two great-granddaughters, Lydia and Blakley.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home, Navarre Chapel, with Rev. Mike Poston officiating (7794 Navarre Parkway, Navarre, Florida 32566)

Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., prior to the service. Flowers will be appreciated by the family and may be sent directly to the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Fort Walton Beach Rehab and Covenant Hospice for the love and care given to Douglas during his illness.
