Dennis E. Brock, 75, of Bardstown, Kentucky, and Milton, Florida, passed away Sunday evening, November 4, 2018 from heart and kidney failure. He was born on March 19, 1943, in Hammond, Indiana, but spent his youth in Galesburg, Illinois, graduating from high school in 1961. He enlisted in the Air Force and was trained as a Russian linguist – eventually serving in the Security Services in Peshawar, Pakistan. During his working years Dennis and his wife were fortunate to travel extensively, both for business and pleasure. Japan, Sweden, Europe, Egypt, Africa, and Brazil were destinations. After retiring Dennis volunteered for the Humane Society of Nelson County and eventually was elected to the board of directors. For the last five years, Dennis and his wife spent winters in Milton, Florida.

Dennis found his calling in sales – beginning with cars (which were a life-long passion), and in later years industrial sales of highly technical pneumatic tools. He retired from Kentucky Pneumatics of Louisville in 2008.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Royal Eugene Brock and Leona Clutter Brock.

He was united in marriage to Susan Lynn Payton in 1967, and later divorcing. They had two sons, Eric of Knoxville, Illinois, and Darin of Battlefield, Missouri.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 39 years, Gailyn Beadle Brock; six sons, Paul (Judy) Swomley of Largo, Florida, Eric (Mary Kay) Brock of Knoxville, Illinois, Darin (Sarahbeth) Brock of Battlefield, Missouri, Ted (Joyce) Swomley of Bardstown, Kentucky, Kyle (Sheila) Brock of Bardstown; and Kevin (Brittany) Brock of Lebanon Jct; a sister, Carol Sue “Suzi” Brock Fleck of Ft. Walton, Florida; seventeen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a niece and nephew; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A celebration of life will be held in Bardstown, Kentucky; date and time to be announced at a later time.

The family requests memorial gifts may be directed to the Humane Society of Nelson County.
