Obituary for Barbara E Goebel
Barbara E. Goebel, age 92, of Milton, Florida, passed away on October 5, 2018.
Barbara was born on April 1, 1926, in Royal Oak, Michigan, to Emily and Earl Mac Lachlan. She graduated from Royal Oak High School and moved to California with her mother and maternal grandparents. She entered nurses training with the Army Nursing Corps but quit to get married to her husband, Jerry, a lieutenant in the Marine Corps. Barbara raised seven children while following her husband back and forth across country. She returned to nursing school in later life, earned her cap, and fulfilled her dream working in the Operating Room. Barbara and her husband retired to Pensacola in 1983. She became active in the Pensacola Quilters Guild. They built a home in Milton and moved in 1995. She was also active with St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Jerry; her daughter, Karen Cardarelli; her son, Steven J. Goebel; and her sister, Joan Davis.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine Goebel Clark, of Milton, Florida; her sons, Jay (Patrice) of Vista, California, Bob (Brenda) of Pensacola, Florida, Peter (Kathleen) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Matthew (Angela) of Temecula, California; 12 grandchildren; and 9 ½ great grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church (6451 Park Avenue, Milton, FL 32570.) A reception will be held in the Parish Hall following the mass.
Lewis Funeral Home of Milton has been entrusted with arrangements.
