Obituary for
Thelma Morgan
Thelma Lee Morgan, 99, of Milton, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018.
Thelma was born July 11, 1919, in Gantt, Alabama, to the late Conrad and Lessie (Able) Duensing. She moved to Milton in search of employment, and worked for many years as an LPN at the old Santa Rosa Hospital. Thelma was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Milton and the FAITH Sunday School class. Her granddaughter, Tara, said her grandma had taught her to can and preserve fruits and vegetables, and that is something she will always treasure and continue to do for her own family. She was a very loving and patient grandmother, and loved her family very much.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Carol Nowlin; two sisters, Pearl "Amelia" Duensing and Clara Mae Gantt; and a brother, Fritz Duensing.
Thelma is survived by her granddaughter, Tara (Brian) Nix; grandson, Jeff Nowlin; two great-grandsons, James Presley III and Christian Presley Nix; four nieces and one nephew, Connie Chewning, Marion Lankford, Rose Cooper, Wanda Pruitt and Lamar Gantt; and her very best and most treasured friend, Sue Curvin.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel, with Dr. David Spencer officiating. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.
Interment will be in Able Cemetery in Gantt, Alabama (Covington County).
