Obituary for
Barbara Ann Bennett
Barbara Ann Bennett, 44 years old, from Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018, after a lengthy illness.
Barbara was born September 24, 1973, in Byram, Mississippi. She is the eldest of two daughters born to John and Deborah Burney. She graduated from Byram High School in 1991, and was a graduate of Hinds Junior College in Jackson, Mississippi, with degrees in Surgical Technology and Medical Records. As a Surgical Technician, she worked at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center for several years. She was also a wife, a homemaker, and a loving mother of two boys, Austin and Brandon.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Deborah Merle Mitchell Burney; and grandparents, John and Mary Burney, and William and Irene Mitchell.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Christopher Bennett; her two sons, Austin Bennett and Brandon Bennett; her father, John Burney, and stepmother, Vicki Burney; her sister, Amanda Diane Burney Laughlin and husband Jason Laughlin; her nephew, Gabriel Laughlin; and her niece, Finleigh Laughlin. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home (6405 Highway 90 West, Milton, FL 32570) with Rev. Cody Cooley officiating. Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., prior to the service.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Dr. Robert G. Kincaid, Sacred Heart Medical Group; Sacred Heart Hospital Emerald Coast; Grand Boulevard Health and Rehabilitation Center, Miramar Beach; and Covenant Hospice at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola for the loving care that they gave to Barbara during her illness.
