Obituary for Joe Ed Barnes

Joe Ed Barnes
Joe E. Barnes, 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Milton on Dec. 21st, 2017. He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart Louise Nichols; second wife Juanita Reynolds; daughter Donna; and siblings Johnny and William. He is survived by his very close friend Brigitte Bentley; his children: Micheal, Danna, Carol, and Jackie; grandchildren: Joseph, Frankie, Ashley, and Laura; great-grandchildren Matthew and Kenadey; a cherished family member Debbie; and two long time friends Margaret and Frank Mitchell.

Joe was born on July 19th, 1932 in Fayette Alabama, to the late John Dalton and Mamie Barnes. At the age of 18, he joined the Navy and served his country during the Korean War as a Marine Chief Engineer (MM2) on the USS Bairoko. After separating from the Navy in 1955, he founded Barnes Heating and Air Conditioning in Pensacola. His reputation proceeded him as both a fair businessman and a cornerstone in the heating and air conditioning field. He was a devoted and loved fan of the University of Alabama with a passion for Alabama football, earning him the nickname “Bama” Joe. Joe was a hard working man who would give you the shirt of his back, if you deserved it. He was respected by all who knew him, both professionally and personally. He was a born again Christian and a faithful member of Pine Terrace Baptist Church. He was a loving father and grandfather, outstanding role model within his community, and always tried to instill a love for Alabama football in everyone that knew him. ROLL TIDE!!

A special thanks goes out to all of his caregivers at West Florida Hospital, Davita Dialysis Group of Milton Florida, and his Pine Terrace Baptist Church family for their continuous love and support.

Viewing will be held Wednesday, Dec 27th from 1:00 p.m. till 2:30 p.m. at Pine Terrace Baptist Church in Milton Florida with funeral service immediately after. Burial to follow at Serenity Gardens Cemetery with Brother Micheal Wiggins officiating and Lewis Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pine Terrace Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
