Obituary for
JD Cooley
J D Cooley, 92, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, June 12, 2017. He was born in Munson, FL, on July 24, 1924, to the late John and Ether (Collins) Cooley, pioneers of Santa Rosa County. As a young boy, J D helped his parents provide wood for the Bagdad Land and Lumber Co. At age seventeen, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp. In March of 1943 he entered the US Army Air Corp. where he proudly served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre and was discharged in January of 1946. After the war, J D returned to Munson and began his career with the Florida Forest Service, where he took great pride in grading the roads of the Blackwater River State Forest. He was a member of the McLellan Church of Christ Church.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-seven years, Faye; a grandson, Shane Roberson and a son-in-law, Kevin Maddox.
He is survived by his children: Cynthia (Rennie) Jenkins, Sherry (Clayton) Roberson, Jerry Cooley, Rita Maddox, and John (Crystal) Cooley. Grandchildren and great grandchildren, Ryan and Debra Jenkins,

Jernigan, Tyler, Tanner, Trevor, and Jaxan .
Visitation will be Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Lewis Funeral Home in Milton from 10-11 AM.
Funeral will be 12:30 pm at McLellan Church of Christ, with Burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and Shannon Beasley.
The family wishes to thank The Terrace at Ivy Acres in Jay, Pruitt Health in Milton, and Covenant Hospice for their excellent care for our father. Also a special thank you to Sandra Wolfe and Royce andSilvia Peaden for their love, support, and visits during his illness.
