Obituary for Duane N Javoroski

Duane Neil "Ski" Javoroski, 73, Navarre, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home, on Sunday, December 23, 2018. Duane was a native of Iron River, Michigan; but had resided in Navarre for the past 18 years.

Duane was born on March 13, 1945, in Stambaugh, Michigan, to Martin and Margaret (Peterson) Javoroski. He was the eighth child of thirteen. He graduated from Iron River High School with the class of 1964.

Duane married Shirley Raines Calloway on March 13, 1974, in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. He served in the US Air Force for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant, and 11 years with Civil Service. He was a member of the American Legion Association.

Duane was an outdoors man; he loved to hunt and fish; was a very good handy man, a “Mr. Fix-It” man; there was nothing that he couldn't fix. He restored an old 1947 Ford by himself and he was always willing to help others. Duane was good at restoring furniture, wood crafts and gardening.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Donnel (Vel) Javoroski and Ramon (Elaine) Javoroski.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Shirley; stepsons, Paul Calloway of Castleberry, Alabama, Timothy (Jenna) Calloway of Castleberry, Alabama and Mark (JoAnn) Calloway of Andalusia, Alabama; brothers, Eugene Javoroski of Tigerton, Wisconsin; Kenneth (Dorothy) Javoroski of Beechwood, Michigan; James Javoroski, Thomas Javoroski of Iron River,Michigan; Gerald (Nellie) Javoroski of Greenfield, Wisconsin and William (Paula) Javoroski of Dumfries, Virginia; sisters, Marion Masanova of Caspian, Michigan, Carol (Don) Pukall of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, Sandra Latva of Caspian, Michigan and Shelley (Mike) Mariani of Iron River, Michigan; and by many nieces and nephews, cousins and other extended family members.

Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018, with funeral services to follow at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel (7794 Navarre Pkwy., Navarre, Florida 32566) with full Military Honors and Lewis Funeral Home directing. Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Covenant Hospice for the love and care given to their husband, father and brother during his time of illness. The family requests memorial donations be made, in Duane's name, to Covenant Care. A memorial celebration is being planned for Duane in Iron River with a date to be announced later.
