Obituary for Charley Frank Griffen Morris

Charly Frank Morris passed away in West Florida Hospital after a brief illness on Tuesday, December 11, 2018.

He was born in Wynne, Arkansas, on July 7, 1932, to the late Jesse and Clara Morris. Charly served during the Korean War for four years. He was an Aviation Boatswains Mate, Fuels Division on the USS Bennington. He met Catherine Davis at church while he was stationed at Whiting Field. They married on June 6, 1952, and spent 67 years together until Charly’s passing. After the war, he worked odd jobs, then later worked for Sears. He was hired at Air Products in Pace, and worked over 25 years until his retirement. He was a faithful member of Pace Assembly of God for over 60 years.

He loved fishing with family and friends. He was a faithful father and dedicated to his family whom he loved dearly.
He was a true friend and always ready to “help and rescue” family or friend.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Eugene Morris; granddaughter, Tracy Lynn Morris; four sisters, Mollie, Flora Mae, Carolyn and Eileen; three brothers, Dan, Junior and Willard; and his father-in law and mother-in-law, Sam and Inez Davis of Pace.

Charley is survived by his wife of 67 years, Catherine Morris; two sons, Dwayne and Melissa Morris, and Craig and Jan Morris; grandchildren, Awita Morris, Kimberly and Carl Kaehler, Adam and Leanna Morris, Kimmie White, Chris Morris, Cory Morris and Kinsley Morris; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Logan, Elizabeth, Emma and Alec; sister, Betty Moore; brother-in-law, Sam Davis; sister-in-laws, Luverne Davis, Lucille Morris, Reba Morris and Eve Morris; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 14, 2018, at Pace Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Glyn Lowery, Rev. Joey Rogers, Rev. Steve Zepp and Rev. Tom Tolbert officiating. A private burial will be held at Serenity Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., prior to the services.
