Obituary for Arnold D. "Skip" Skipper

Arnold D. "Skip" Skipper
Arnold D. “Skip” Skipper, 71, of Milton, Florida, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018.

Skip was born, at home, in McKenzie, Alabama, on August 5, 1947, as the fourth of five siblings born to the late James Charles and Francis (Hester) Skipper. Skip moved with his family to Pensacola as a youth to Navy Point and graduated from Escambia High School. After high school, Skip spent time in the Army, then after a medical discharge he married the love of his life Peggy Sue Sparks. Skip and Peggy settled in Milton, Florida, where Skip began working at Escambia Chemical Co., and started his own cabinet shop. Skip retired from Air Products where he worked for 37 years. He continued to run his custom cabinet business where he worked tirelessly his entire adult life. He loved being with family, most especially his five grandchildren, hunting and fishing. Skip lived life to the fullest everyday with a zest and energy few possess.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Olene Reid, of Garland, Alabama; and brother, Ariel Skipper, of Pensacola, Florida.

Skip is survived by his wife of 50 years, Peggy Skipper, of Milton, Florida; his son, David (Jennifer) Skipper, of Pace, Florida, grandsons, Matthew, Brandon, Blake, and granddaughter, Lauren Skipper; his daughter, Emily (Jeff) Jarrett of Pensacola, Florida, and granddaughter, Grace Jarrett; sister, Evelyn Steele, of Georgianna, Alabama; sister, Glennis (Bobby) Jordan, Milton, Florida; and many extended family members and loving friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 2, 2018, at First United Methodist Church of Milton, Florida, with Pastor Steve Warren officiating. Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., prior to the service.

The church will be providing food for friends and family following the services.

Burial will be at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date.

Lewis Funeral Home, Milton, has been entrusted with arrangements.
