Obituary for Joyce Wynoma Knowles (Pitts)
Joyce Winona (Pitts) Knowles, age 95, of Holt, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018.
Joyce was born October 16, 1922, in Reeves, Louisiana, to parents, Robert Grey and Grace (Thigpen) Pitts. Joyce was a loving wife, mom, and Grammy, who loved her family above all else. She enjoyed flower gardening and fishing.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Alfred Jackson Knowles.
Joyce leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son Robert Franklin (Debora) Knowles; four grandchildren, Andrew Christopher Knowles of Milton, Bert (Christine) Woerner of Orlando, Lisa (Gary) Smith of Seattle; and Charles (Lisa) Woerner of Orlando; numerous great-grandchildren; four nephews, David Knowles, Phillip Knowles, Ken Knowles and Mike Knowles; and one niece, Julie Knowles.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 o’clock noon, Monday, October 15, 2018, at Pleasant Home Baptist Church. Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., prior to the service. Burial will follow services in the Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home of Milton directing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made directly to the funeral home to offset the funeral costs. Donations may be made by mail or by phone. Memorial funds are needed to lay my sweet mother, Joyce Pitts Knowles, to rest. We didn't realize until recently that there was no insurance available. To those that knew my mama, knew she loved her church, family, friends and community.
