Obituary for Ruby Glyn Simmons

Ruby Glyn Simmons, 83, of Jay, FL, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018.

She was born November 25, 1934, as the oldest of seven children to the late Leonard and Roxie Jackson. She was a retired Escambia County school system employee and member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Calvin Jackson.

Ruby is survived by her husband of 62 years, Mason Simmons; a daughter, Beverly Harrison (Kerry) of Pace, FL; a sister, Carolyn Mitchell (Jimmy) of Fairhope, AL; a brother, Carlton Jackson (Virginia) of Pensacola, FL; a brother, Gary Jackson (Samantha) of Fairhope, AL; a sister, Diane Nowling (Jerry) of Jay, FL; and a brother, Ronald Jackson (Violet) of Jay, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a loving wife, mother and a woman of great spiritual faith. She will always be remembered for her love of others and her heartwarming smile.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 1, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bennie Wolfe and Rev. Mark Barfield officiating.

The family wishes to thank the staff at The Terrace of Ivey Acres for the loving care given to Ruby while a resident and to the West Florida Hospital ICU nurses and staff for their kindness and compassion during her illness.
