Obituary for Dennis Ray Caughorn

Dennis Ray Caughorn, 70, of Milton, Florida, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 20, 2018.

Dennis was a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, but lived most of his life in Milton, Florida. He was the only boy of his three other siblings. Dennis was born to Charlotte Ingram and Orvil Caughorn. He was a retired county worker for Santa Rosa County as well as a construction worker.

He is preceded in death by, his parents, Charlotte Ingram and Orvil Caughorn; his sister, Delorse Ann “Caughorn” Wing, his mother-in-law, Doris P Lasater, and father-in-law, David Keith Lasater; and a nephew, Robert Keith Yarber.

Dennis is survived by, his beautiful wife and best friend of 48 years, Barbara Jayne Caughorn, of Milton, Florida; his adopted mother, Betty Phillips; one son, Jerry Howard Jones; his daughters, Jena Darlene Jones of Milton, Khaleen Michelle Gentry and her spouse Timothy Gentry of Milton, and Dana Rae Beck “Caughorn” of Milton; his life-long friend, Butch Johnson of Milton; his sister, Mary Mallocote of Tennessee; nephew, David Yarber, and niece, Donna Oster of Jacksonville. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his grandchildren, Dennis Albert Johnson, Jerry Andrew Johnson, Timothey Jack Gentry, Brittanie Nicole Carroll, Cameron Blake Burkett, Christian David Grey Beck, and Terista Nevaeh Beck; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Dennis Ray Caughorn will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel, with Pastor Doug Barber officiating. Burial will follow services in the Brake Cemetery, off of Munson Hwy, with his final bike escort and Lewis Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., prior to the services.

Pallbearers: Jerry Jones, Timothy Gentry “Bubba”, Cameron Burkett, Raymond Carroll, Allen Masters and Dewey Royce.

The family would like to thank everyone from Covenant Hospice and West Florida Hospice unit doctors, nurses and staff, who took such great care of him during his illness.
