Obituary for Andrew Elwood "Woody" Nelson
Andrew Elwood “Woody” Nelson, 76, of Navarre, passed away at his home, Friday, September 14, 2018.
Woody was born February 28, 1942, in Pensacola, and raised his family in Navarre. He loved his church family at Billory Baptist Church, and his friends in the old communities of Navarre and Holley. He treasured his time at ‘the camp’ with Richard McLaughlin, Wiley Kyser, Mitchell Jernigan, Gary Cabanis, Mr. Willie, and Kenny Baxley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford “Red” and Annie Nelson; and his brothers, Jerry and Raymond Nelson.
Woody is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary; his children, Michael (Valerie), Mark (Ree), and Myra; his sisters, Edna (Bruce) Daugett, Frances (Frankie) Bush and Judy (Bobby) Richie. Woody “Papaw” adored his six grandchildren, Meagan (Thomas), Ethan, Morgan, Chloe, Madelyn and Will.
Family visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., and public visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., prior to the services on September 20th.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Billory Baptist Church. Dinner will follow services in the Fellowship Hall.
Interment will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date and time to be announced. Lewis Funeral Home, Navarre Chapel, has been entrusted with arrangements.
