Richard Wayne Penton, age 68, of Jay, Florida, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018, after a brief illness. He was born on June 12, 1950, at Jackson Hospital in Marianna, Florida, to his late parents, Troy and Rachel Penton. He was a 1968 graduate of Jay High School and a member of the Jay United Methodist Church.

Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; and brother and sister-n-law, Charles and Patsy Penton.

Richard is survived by a daughter, Jennifer (Paul) Bradley, and two grandsons, Dalton and Dylan Bradley of Jay, Florida; two brothers, Dan (April) Penton of Tallahassee, Florida, and Howard (Jane) Penton of Fairhope, Alabama; a Very Special Friend, Laura Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his special pets, Abby and Dot.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 31, 2018, at Pineview United Methodist Church. Burial will follow services in the Pineview United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Lewis Funeral Home of Milton directing. Active Pallbearers will be Dalton Bradley, Dylan Bradley, Paul Bradley, Jason Shell, Brian Durham and Tony Whitley. Honorary Pallbearers are Jimmy Jones, Wayne Godwin, Roger Watson, Jerry Green, Ollie Johnson, Burlin Findley, and Jim Howell.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., prior to the services.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Covenant Care for the care given to their father, brother and friend during his time of illness. A special thank you to his nurse, Amanda Brewton, for her compassion and dedication in this difficult time.
