Obituary for Jackie Lynn Cooper

Jackie Cooper, beloved husband, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all he met, departed this life Tuesday, August 7, 2018.

Jackie was born March 18, 1945, in Milton, Florida. He loved his family with everything he had. They are his legacy along with the business he created. A plumber by trade he started Cooper Plumbing Company in 1970 and incorporated in 2004. During that time Cooper Plumbing was responsible for plumbing several thousand homes and buildings from Mobile, Alabama to Gretna, Florida, as well as Clark’s Cay, Brick Point off the coast of Honduras in the Caribbean Ocean. He loved to fish the rivers and bays of Santa Rosa County and he loved Alabama Football.

He is preceded in death by his mother Dewey Chestnut Cooper; and his father, Hafton Cooper.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Rutledge Cooper; his daughter, Lauren Lynne Cooper Drake; his two sons, Samuel Logan Cooper and Matthew Lee Cooper; his granddaughter, Gracen Drake Vandermeide, and her husband, Jacob; his grandson, Alyies Cooper, (Taylor Seals); and his two great granddaughters, Leila Cooper and Angel Smith. He also leaves to cherish his memory, three brothers, Gary Cooper, Billy Cooper, and Don Cooper; four sisters, Mary Alice Burke, Winell Holmes, Gaynell Hewatt, and Johnnie Rowley; as well as, his in-laws, whom he loved like his own sisters and brothers, Karen and Peter Ford, Jackie and Rick Zeiger, Sandee and Jim Cutts and Murry and Kim Rutledge. Also left to cherish their memories of their Uncle Jackie are all his many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Christian Life Church (4401 Avalon Blvd., Milton, FL 32583).

Funeral Services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, August 12, 2018, at Christian Life Church with Pastor Doug Holmes officiating. Interment will follow services in Milton Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home of Milton directing.
