Obituary for Helen Peacock (Willis)

Mary “Helen” Willis Peacock, 89, of Milton, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018.

Helen was born March 14, 1929, in Thomas County, Georgia, to the late Joel David and Ruth Gertrude Whiddon Willis. She was a homemaker and volunteer in various organizations. She loved her family and Jesus and was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Milton for over forty years as well as a member of the United Methodist Women. She loved to sing in the choir, play handbells, help in any capacity needed, and always enjoyed being a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She loved to travel, especially taking her grandchildren to new, fun places. She loved to sew, cross-stitch, cook, play guitar, sing, and put up all the butterbeans, peas, and creamed corn from the garden. She was also a member of the Santa Rosa Historical Society and the Milton Garden Club.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda Peacock; son-in-law; Scott Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Pearl Willis; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Calvin Key; and brother-in-law, Hinton Bradford.

Helen is survived by her husband of almost 69 years, Hugh Anthony “Tony” Peacock; son, Ramon Peacock and his wife Pam; daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Smith; and daughter, Mary and her husband Mark Dennis. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Toni Smith, Miriam “Mitzi” and Melinda “Mindi” Dennis; grandsons, Zachariah “Zach” Peacock and his wife Wendy, Jason Smith and his wife Kelly, and Matthew Smith; step-granddaughter, Rose and her husband Mike Hurley; four great-granddaughters and four great-grandsons; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Barbara Willis; sister, Sue Bradford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 11, 2018, at First United Methodist Church of Milton, with Reverends Ed Britton, Mac Fulcher, and Steve Warren officiating. Interment will follow services in Serenity Gardens Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home of Milton directing. A gathering of family and friends will follow interment in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., prior to the services, at the church.
