On Sunday, July 22, 2018, the Lord called home, Jean Adkinson Singletary, at the age of 85, due to a lengthy illness.

She was special, a true "steel magnolia", and will always hold a designated place in the hearts of her family and many others who were touched by her kind spirit.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Buris Adkinson; and a brother, M.E. Adkinson.

Jean will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Loyd David Singletary; her children, Elton Loyd (Leslie) and Melinda Jean; sisters, Dee Reeves, Joan Lites and Janet Benton (Steve); a brother, Dennis Adkinson; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, and dear friends.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 27, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home, Pace Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Wilson officiating. Interment will follow services in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home directing.

The family would like to honor and give special thanks to their church family of 37 years, Immanuel Baptist, in Pace, the surrounding communities, neighbors and many others for their loving care and support.

The family requests memorial donations may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
