Obituary for Thomas Rex Pickens Jr.
Thomas Rex Pickens, Jr., age 83, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018, in Pensacola, Florida.
He was born July 31, 1934, in Selma, Alabama, to Thomas Rex and Elizabeth (Lyon) Pickens, Sr. Thomas was a native of Collirene, Alabama, and a longtime resident of Atmore, Alabama. Upon retirement from Monsanto, he and his wife, Becky, returned to Collirene and lovingly restored his family home, "The Hill," back to its original beauty.
Thomas Pickens was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Spivey Pickens; sons, Thomas Rex Pickens, III and Carrington Allen Pickens, Sr.; and his grandson, Carrington Allen Pickens, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Pickens Nelson; granddaughters, Elizabeth Whitman Nelson and Mary Chandler Nelson; two grandsons, CPL Thomas Rex Pickens, IV, US National Guard and CPL Kenneth Spivey Pickens, US Marine Corp; and his great-grandson, Briar Allen Denson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2018, at Bethany Baptist Church in Collirene, Alabama. Lewis Funeral Home, Milton, Florida, has been entrusted with local arrangements.
