Obituary for
Daniel Lee Heffelfinger
Daniel Lee “Dan” Heffelfinger, 71, died peacefully at home on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 12:33 p.m. He was a native of New Kensington, Pennsylvania; and a resident of Pace, Florida.
Dan retired from the Navy after twenty years of service and was a Vietnam Veteran. After his retirement from the Navy, he drove over the road for thirteen years mostly delivering Yachts. He then worked for several boat companies that service oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. Dan’s final job was with Hornbeck Offshore Services were he retired in 2008.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Edward and Catherine Marie Smith Heffelfinger; his wife, Carolyn Fulford Heffelfinger; two brothers, Edward “Ed” Heffelfinger and John Heffelfinger; and a sister, Mary Heffelfinger.
Dan is survived by his wife of nine years, Carol Eschete Heffelfinger; son, Daniel Lee Heffelfinger II, and his wife, Krissie; two daughters, Alicia H. Flowers (Tim Reynolds) and Mary Holloway; sister, Cheryl H. Slone, and her husband James “Mike”; stepson, Darryl Eschete, and his wife, Becky; two stepdaughters, Barbara E. Martin, and her husband, Kenny, and Renee E. Doust, and her husband, Vic; nine grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and last, but certainly not least, his three most favorite 4-legged companions, Andy, Roux and Lucy.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home, Pace Chapel (4777 West Spencerfield Road, Pace, Florida 32571.)
Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. for the family, and 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. for the public, prior to the service.
The Heffelfinger family would like to thank Dr. Nicholas Delgado for all the loving support and care of Dan. We also would like to thank the entire staff at Emerald Coast Hospice for all the loving and caring treatment that was shown to Dan on his final journey home.
