Obituary for
Craig Patrick Thomason
Craig Patrick Thomason, 60, of Navarre, Florida, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola.
Craig was born in Port Arthur, Texas, to the late Glenn Edward Thomason and Josie Mae Bordanaro Van Laningham.
He received a GED and was a Navy veteran. He moved to Navarre in the early 1980's and worked off shore and received his captain's license to operate or navigate passenger carrying vessels. Later, he was a carpenter and worked on many of the high rises from Destin, Florida to Orange Beach, Alabama, his last major job being on Portafino. He loved building things and turned this talent toward his hobby with HO trains. Craig also had a great love of gardening and his dogs.
He is survived by his wife of seventeen and a half years, Theresa Ellen Ogle Thomason of Navarre; his mother, Mrs. Josie Mae (Norman) Van Laningham of Fort Worth, Texas; brother, Gene (Cindy) Thomason of Navarre; half sister, Glenna (Roger) Makavoy of Lake Jackson, Texas; half sisters, Rhonda Fojtik of Houston, Texas, and Debbie Parker of Lake Jackson, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home Navarre Chapel (7794 Navarre Parkway, Navarre, Florida 32566.) The Rosary will be prayed at 6:45 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 13, 2018, at St. Sylvester Catholic Church (6464 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Gulf Breeze, Florida 32563) with Lewis Funeral Home of Navarre directing. Private burial at Barrancas National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Sacred Heart Cancer Center and Sacred Heart Hospital for the great compassionate care given to Craig during his illness.
The family requests memorial donations be given in Craig’s name, to the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
