Obituary for Cordia "Rebecca" Jernigan



Cordia Rebecca Jernigan, age 85, ended her struggle with Parkinson’s Disease on Thursday, February 15, 2018. Rebecca was a native of Santa Rosa County, Florida, and graduated from Milton High School in 1950. She married the love of her life, Earnest Whitmire Jernigan, on March 31, 1952. She retired in 1997 from Charles/Berryhill Pharmacy, where she worked as an insurance processor. Rebecca was an active member of Pine Terrace Baptist Church.

Rebecca is predeceased by her parents, George L. Bray and Idelle Nobles Bray; brother, George H. Bray; and husband, Earnest W. Jernigan.

Rebecca is survived by her daughters, Julie Jernigan, and Sandi (David) Coppedge; her son, Greg (Kathy) Jernigan; grandchildren, Amy (Astley) Blackwell, Amanda (Thim) Sowell, Ashton Jernigan, and Kandace Jernigan; and great grandchildren, Kaden and Kamdyn Sowell, and Annistyn Blackwell.

Funeral services for Rebecca will be at Chumuckla Community Church (formerly Elizabeth Chapel United Methodist Church) 8008 Chumuckla Highway, at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2018, with Doctor Mike Wiggins officiating. Interment will follow in Elizabeth Chapel Community Cemetery, with Lewis Funeral Home, Milton, directing.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2018, prior to the service.
