Obituary for Hilda Ward Bell

Hilda Ward Bell
Hilda L. Bell of Milton, Florida, ascended to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the age of 96.

Hilda spent most of her life as a resident of Santa Rosa County, leaving only to attend the Florida State College for Women (now FSU) and a few other moves as a military wife. She earned a Bachelor Degree in Education in 1945 and retired from teaching in 1983. She is a long-standing and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Milton, and served as Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was very active in the church and community for as many years as her body would allow, serving GOD, taking care of family, and serving others.

Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Corbitt; her parents, James B. and Lurlie Dozier Ward; a sister, Mary Beth Ward; and four brothers Joel, Morris, Lamar, and James Ward.

She is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Canter; one son, Raymond (Sandy) Bell; four granddaughters, Gayle Canter (Pete) McGhee, Lynda Canter Bellinder, Kathryn Canter Bibby, and Dyana Canter; two grandsons, Andy (Amy) Bell and Brian (Jennifer) Bell; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory, two brothers, Hilson (Glenda) Ward, and Charles (Lucille) Ward; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Milton, with Dr. David Spencer officiating. Burial will follow services in Serenity Gardens Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel, directing.

Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.

The family wishes to thank all of those that provided medical and tender care during the past few years when she needed it most. May GOD bless you for the work you do.
