James Monroe Martin
Born: November 26, 1927
Died: January 10, 2018

James M. Martin, 90, of Bagdad, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018.

He was a Navy veteran serving his country during World War II & the Korean War; as well as, a retired civil service aircraft metalsmith with 38 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cyrus and Ida (McCombs) Martin; and his wife of 61 years, Margy Pitts Martin.

He is survived by his three children, Linda (Wayne) Barrow, Jeri Ann Martin, James (Glenda) Martin; four grandchildren, William (Liz) Barrow, Robert Barrow, Elizabeth Barrow and Emily Martin; five great-grandchildren, Olivia, Cody, Colin, Hailey and Analyn Barrow; brother-in-law, Alton (Thelma) Pitts; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends at the Bagdad Community Center; and special family friends that he considered his adopted daughters, Barbara Scales and Sandy Vardaman.

Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 15, 2018, at Lewis
Funeral Home, Milton Chapel.

Graveside Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Bagdad Cemetery, conducted by ministers Sam Ezell (Bagdad Church of Christ) and Joe Matzer (Northside Church of Christ), and Lewis Funeral Home directing.
