Betty Ruth Grice, 77, of McLellan, Florida, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017.

Betty was a native of McLellan and was the second of five children born to the late Olen and Alyne Pittman. She retired from the Santa Rosa County School Board as a bus driver after many years of dedicated service. Betty was a life-long member of the McLellan Assembly of God Church. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be GREATLY missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James “Tommy” Grice, Sr.; a son, James Grice, Jr.; and a sister, Olyne Butts.

Betty is survived by three daughters and one son, Cynthia (Thomas) Grantham of McLellan, Donna Grice Atkins of McLellan, Tony (Karen) Grice of Jay and Tammy (Terry) Hart of Pace. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Tim Grantham (Barbara Byrd), Tiffany (Scott) Cunningham, Craig (Liz) Atkins, Joseph (Amber) Atkins, Melinda Grice, Randy (Shelby) Grice, Kimberly Johnson, Maggie Hart (Will Tirrell); seven great-grandchildren, Tyler Simmons, Connor Atkins, Alyssa Hart, Caden Atkins, Dalton Johnson, RayRay Drennen and Landen Tirrell; three sisters, Shirley (James) Crain, Linda McInnis, and Sharon Ethridge; and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held for family and friends at Lewis Funeral Home in Milton, on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel, with Rev. Jimmy Pittman and Rev. Alton Nixon officiating. Burial will follow services at McLellan Cemetery in McLellan. Pallbearers will be Tim Grantham, Joseph Atkins, Randy Grice, Scott Cunningham, Will Tirrell and Clayton Pace.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Kindred Home Health Care and Emerald Coast Hospice for the love and care given during this difficult time; and a special thank you to Carolyn Mitchem, for always showing her love and support.
