Obituary for Alene Shipman

Alene Shipman, age 81, of Ft Walton Beach, Florida, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017.

Alene was born in Harlan, Kentucky, daughter of Sid and Viola Garrett.

She is preceded in death by her son, Joel Shipman; brothers, Ken Garrett and Wade Garrett; and sister, Wilma Thacker.

Alene is survived by her husband of sixty years, Herbert Shipman, Sr.; children, Herb (Lori) Shipman, Rick (Pam) Shipman, Debbie (Mark) Hendricks, and Brian Shipman; grandchildren, Nichole (Ken) Richardson, Chris (Kelsey) Shipman, Matthew Shipman, Nicole (Jamie) Allgeyer; Mike (Ania) Tragesser, Jackie (Brad) Paxton, and Jake (Hannah) Hendricks; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Alene was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed by all.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 4, 2017, at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel in Navarre, Florida, with Reverend Mike Poston officiating. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Ft Walton Rehabilitation Center for the love and care shown Alene during her time of illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or Dayton Children’s Hospital.
