Stephen “Steve” Richmond Rice, 68 years old, of Harold, Florida, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017, after a prolonged illness. Several weeks prior to passing, he was able to live with his daughter, Keri Odom, and was happy being surrounded by family.

Born in New York, raised in Pensacola, and an Escambia High School graduate, he resided in Harold, Florida, for the majority of his life. Steve served his country as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne, US Army, then became a talented, hardworking “sheetrocker.” He was a master fisherman, artist, and loved to be surrounded by friends and family. Because of his caring, generous heart, everyone knew they were welcome to come over or stay with “Steve” for as long as they needed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Ruby Rice; his brothers, Mack Rice and Roger Rice; and his son, Stephen Rice Jr.

Steve is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Keri and Brad Odom; nieces, Tammy, Tori, and Tessa; nephew, Chase Rice; his grandchildren, Dorian Rice, Averi Odom, Bryce Odom, Cooper Odom, Drace Odom; and his brothers, Kenny (Pam) Rice, “Eddie” (Marty) Rice, and Gary (Angela) Rice.

The family would like to especially thank Emerald Coast Hospice for helping to make his approach to the finish line so memorable, pleasant, and supportive. He was happy, comfortable, and able to spend time with loved ones.

His Memorial Party will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 11, 2017, at the home of his daughter, Keri Odom (contact family for address.) Soon after, his family will hold an ash scattering ceremony at his favorite places.
