Obituary for Robert Edward Elliott

Robert Edward Elliott
Robert Edward “Bud” Elliott, 72, of Bagdad, Florida, passed away on October 7, 2017, peacefully in his sleep.

Bud was born in Bagdad, Florida, on March 22, 1945. He went to Milton High School and then enlisted in the United States Army, where he served two years, and was stationed in Germany during the Viet Nam era. Bud was married to Delores L. Elliott in 1970; they were together for 33 years before her passing in January 2003.

Bud worked as a truck driver for more than 30 years. He enjoyed being out on the road, being his own boss, and not having anyone to report to on a regular basis. He loved his family, hanging out with his friends, being generous, making people smile often, and playing music. He played the guitar nearly his whole life.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Finley” Elliott and Myrtice Marie Elliott; and his sister, Faye Watson.

Bud is survived by his life partner, Linda Whidden; two children, Robert B. Elliott and his wife Anne C. Elliott, and Randall M. Elliott and his wife Carrie Elliott; his five grandchildren, Christian, Logan, Robbie, Olivia, and Sadie; and his great-grandchild, Ace Tungol; his two sisters, Evelyn Hinote and Barbara-Jean Braxton; his nieces and nephews; and the rest of his family and friends.

Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2017, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel (6405 Hwy. 90 West, Milton, Florida 32570).

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel, with Pastor James Pittman of Springhill Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow services in Memorial Park Cemetery (5641 Hwy 90 West, Milton, Florida 32583).

The family of Bud Elliott wishes to thank the doctors at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California, for saving Bud’s life in 2009 and allowing him to be with us for 8 ½ more years; the doctors at all of the VA Hospitals that Bud visited over the years, especially the VA in Loma Linda, California, where he recovered for three months; the Baptist Hospital, and all other doctors and facilities that he visited over the years.
