Obituary for Mary Sue Patterson

Mary Sue Patterson
Mary Sue Patterson, 77, of Pace, Florida, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017. She had been recovering from hip surgery in rehabilitation. Her husband of fifty-four years was by her side as she passed on to be with the Lord.

Sue had been a member of Bethel Baptist for twenty years. She loved the Lord and always talked about the joy she would experience when the Lord came for her, and now he has called her home.

Sue lived a full life, from teaching ballroom dancing with Arthur Murray studios in her 20s, to helping her husband build Patterson Woodworking into a successful business in her 30s and 40s, and wallpapering homes as an employee of Henry Contractors. She traveled to the Grand Canyon, California, London, and all over the Northeast in her 50s and 60s. She was a homemaker, loving mother, daughter and friend.

She was preceded in death by her father, Waverly Hogg; brother, Charles Hogg; mother, Effie Taylor and sister, Peggy Sue Galloway.

Sue is survived by her husband, James E. Patterson of Pea Ridge, Florida; daughter, Jamie Patterson Barnes and husband Fritz Barnes of Aberdeen, North Carolina; son, James E. Patterson II, and wife, Allison Paula Patterson of Orange Park, Florida; four grandchildren, Micahia DeLoach, Amie Danielle Williams, Allyssa Kleinschmidt and James E. “Trey” Patterson; two great-grandchildren, Lucas Cameron Young and Emery Kleinschmidt; eight step-grandchildren, Zachary Irby, Jacob Irby, Nicholas Irby, Ian Maurer, Rebekah Barnes, Rachel Barnes, Erik Barnes and Evan Barnes.

A Memorial Gathering will be scheduled at a later date.
