Beverly Hoodless St. John, 73, returned to her heavenly home on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, after a brief illness.

Beverly was born to the late Bogan and Mazie Hoodless in Milton, Florida. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Milton, where she served in the vestry for many years and was an active member of the Women of the Church.

She graduated from Milton High School in 1961 and received an AA from Pensacola Junior College in 1963. She graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor's Degree in 1966 and a Master's Degree in Biology in 1969. She taught for 38 years, most of them at Milton High School. She retired in 2005. She received the Florida State Outstanding Teacher of the Year in Science award in 1996 and served for many years as the Chairman of the Science Department at MHS.

Beverly was a registered realtor for over 50 years and received the Realtor of the Year award in 2012.

Beverly contracted polio at a young age and suffered the after-effects her entire life. In spite of the limitations of the polio, she lived her life fully. She was interested in genealogy (her family came to Milton in the mid-1800's from England), plants and wildflowers, wiregrass, the gopher tortoise and longleaf pines.

Beverly was a dedicated individual who loved her church, family and friends. She will be missed by many who worked with her and who participated with her in her many church activities.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bogan and Mazie; sister, Cynthia; and brother, Gary.

Beverly was blessed with a small but loving family. She is survived by her husband, James; son, Gregory; brother, Duane; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation for Beverly will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 6, 2017, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2017, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Milton.
