Obituary for Edith Eleanor "Edie" Nihiser

Edith Eleanor “Edie” Nihiser, 77, of Pace, Florida, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017.

Edie was born March 7, 1940, in Junction City, Ohio. She married her high school sweetheart, Ward Herbert Nihiser, and followed him on a 30 year military career which included Germany and trips to Hawaii.

She is predeceased by her parents, Harry and Edith (Rawson) Sprague; brother, David Sprague; daughter-in-law, Suni Nihiser; a special aunt, Eleanor Rawson; and a nephew, Mike Sprague.

Edie is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Ward Nihiser; two sons, Steven (Jessica) Nihiser of Mililani, Hawaii, and Jeff (Sandra) Nihiser of Georgetown, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Steven Nihiser of Tucson, Arizona, Michele (David) Miller of Wellington, Florida, Jennifer (Owen) Johnson of Georgetown, South Carolina, and Brent (Shannon) Nihiser of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; and great-grandchildren, Luke, Cannon, Wyatt, Reese, Ava, Paisley, Rae, and soon-to-be-greatgrand #8 due to be born in November. She also leaves to cherish her memory, two brothers, Donald Sprague of Lancaster, Ohio, and Gerald (Peg) Sprague of Hamburg, Ohio; and a sister, Patricia (Charlie) Merritt of Grove City, Ohio; sister-in-law, Mildred Preston of Columbus, Ohio; brother-in-law, Milton (Betty Mae) McGinnis of Vallejo, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family thanks Dr. Malhotra, Marcella, and the nurses at the Oncology Clinic at Sacred Heart Hospital; and the nurses for their tender care of our beloved Edie at the MICU Unit. Our sincere gratitude to you all.
