James Leonard Thurman, age 70, of Milton, Florida, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017.

James was born in Harold, Florida, on November 30, 1946. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family, friends and his little dog, “Libby.”

James is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Lurese Thurman; and his sister, Sylvia Ann Nelson.

James is survived by a son, Richard Thurman of Pensacola, Florida; daughter, Tammy Thurman of Pensacola, Florida, one brother, Henry A. (Melody) Thurman of Milton, Florida, two sisters, Frances Davis of Milton, Florida, and Rose Katherine Ladziak of Whitmore Lake, Michigan; seven grandchildren; five nieces; four nephews; and many other family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel, with Rev. Mike Poston officiating.

Family visitation will be held 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.; and public visitation from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., prior to the service.

James’ cremains will be laid to rest in Harold Cemetery.
