Obituary for
Anthony Michael Vickers
Lt. Col. Anthony Michael “Tony” Vickers, 79, of Milton, Florida, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016.
Tony was born in Durham, North Carolina, July 17, 1936. He was the second son of the late Clyde and Ruth Vickers.
He was a graduate from Clemson University and a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Bronze Star medals, retiring from the U.S. Army in 1980 after serving over 21 years. Tony worked for Job Services of Pensacola before retiring as an employee of Santa Rosa County Schools as an Employment Specialist at Locklin Vocational Technical School.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael “Toby” Vickers; and his brother, Larry Vickers.
Tony is survived by his wife of 39 years, Brenda Vickers of Milton, FL; daughter, Kelly (Brian) Ohalloran of Staten Island, NY; son, Gary (Rhonda) Vickers of Viera, FL; daughter, Jennifer (Chuck) Moore of Kissimmee, FL.; son, Justin (Ali) Vickers of Mt. Pleasant, SC; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2016, at Barrancas National Cemetery, with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made in Tony’s name to the American Heart Association.
